How we do it
Carba’s carbon reduction solutions start as natural waste from almond shells, pistachio shells, hulls, corn, wood, paper and other product waste. This plant waste has already done the heavy lifting of sucking carbon dioxide out of the air using solar energy, but it will naturally decompose if left untreated.
Carba takes these waste streams, which would otherwise decompose or burn, and treats them in proprietary distributed reactors that convert them to a stable graphite-like carbon. The reactors require zero heat energy and a negligible amount of electricity from solar.
The carbon solids are then buried underground where they are protected from oxygen and stable for millions of years. This process mimics the formation of coal from trees millions of years ago in less than an hour.
Our engineered solution to carbon removal is measurable (we weigh every gram of carbon we sequester), traceable, and permanent. Avoid the ambiguity of short term solutions with uncertain permanence.
